Salvage Diving

(Object Search & Recovery)

Anything that’s worth rescuing from a watery grave can be assessed and quoted for a recovery as big as small boats.

  • Underwater searches vary widely depending on the factors.

  • Knowing and recording the exact location of the item is the first priority.

  • iPhone’s are often still on and working if found within the first 24-48 hours.

  • The least amount of time that passes before the search can start the more likely finding the item sooner.

  • Bottom composition, water conditions and location are all major factors affecting searches.

  • If something is lost overboard the best thing to do is mark it by throwing something else in that can act as an anchor and buoy, the next best thing is to take a visual reference, photos of the area and a gps or dropped pin coordinates on a cell phone or chart plotter.
